Gregory Lee Sutton

Gregory Lee Sutton, age 89 of Utica formerly of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully Monday, November 20, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Hartford to the late Bradley Sutton and the late Lula Mae Whitehouse Sutton. He was the husband of 47 years to Penny Patterson Sutton who survives and the late Virginia Alvey Sutton. He was preceded in death by a son, Harold Wayne Sutton and a daughter Karen Ruth Whitely; great grandson, Logan Cecil; three brothers, J.W. Sutton, Hubert Sutton, Ezell Sutton; three sisters Willye Walker, Celda Phelps, Gayla Burden; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jr. Patterson, Brenda Payton (Jessie) and Sue Payton (Jimmy).

His career started at Hartford Stone in Olaton, KY where he worked for 15 years. He then would become a truck driver and haul agriculture lime while farming his own farm. He was a member of Concord Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, song leader and Sunday School Teacher. He enjoyed playing music on the guitar, singing bluegrass and gospel with his family. Most importantly he loved his Lord. He was a loving Christian man, loving devoted husband, loving father proud grandfather and everyone loved his big ole hugs.

He is survived by his daughter Sarah Ringkor, Utica; daughter-in-law, Debbie Sutton, Hartford; son-in-law, Robert Whitely, Hartford; Brother Garrett Vandell Sutton (Lana); brothers and sisters-in-law, Edna Patterson, Nancy Embry (Jack); grandchildren, Amanda Cecil (James), Stefanie Brown (Jeremy), Nathan Whitely (Ashley), Jennifer Blake (Larry), Karlee Ringkor; great grandchildren, Kamryn Cecil, Hannah Brown, Colton Brown, Addison Whitely, Eli Blake, Nicole Blake; 43 nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 10:00 AM – 1: 00 PM Sunday, November 26, 2023, at Hartford Memorial Funeral Chapel. Funeral will be 1:00 PM Sunday, November 26, 2023. The burial will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery.
