Anna Violet Day

March 25, 2019 — July 10, 2023

Anna Violet Day, passed from the loving arms of her parents into the arms of God on the evening of July 10th, 2023. She passed gently at home in her sleep, at the age of 4 years old. Anna Violet was being cared for by those who love her dearly.

Anna Violet was born on March 25, 2019 in Nashville, TN. At the age of 2 months she was diagnosed with Peroxisomal Biogeneses Disorder - Zellweger Spectrum Disorder. Due to this extremely rare and terrible disease, Anna Violet faced many challenges in her too short life. She was affected by liver disease, kidney disease, deaf blindness, neural issues, feeding issues and many other challenges.

In spite of all her challenges, Anna Violet was a very happy and energetic little girl. She was the 2020 Patient Ambassador for the Global Foundation for Peroxisomal Disorders, where she helped to spread awareness for her and the many other GFPD Warriors who have and continue to battle this disease. She absolutely loved car rides, playing with her beloved fishbowl, trying her very best to put her electric toothbrush in her ear, placing her toy rings on her feet and losing socks in several different states. She loved her vibrating octopus and wrapping herself up in any soft blanket she could find. She loved to snuggle and giggle when you gave her little kisses on her cheeks or neck. She loved to play with her daddy and pull on his beard. But most of all, she loved being held in the arms of her mommy, where she felt the safest. Watching her wrap herself around her mommy with the biggest smile on her face is something that no one will ever be able to forget. As time went on, so did the progression of her disease. She lost more and more of her abilities and spent more time in the hospital or under the care of her amazing medical team.

Anna Violet is survived by her loving parents, mother Jennifer Day (Guenther), father Eddie Day and her big sister, Abby Strader. She was the beloved granddaughter of David and Jessica Guenther and Maynard and Charlene Day. Anna Violet was also loved dearly by her many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends.

Special thanks to her amazing medical team, Dr. Tracy Hills, Dr. Einar Hafberg, Dr. Anita Pai, Sidney Hicks, RN, Beth Cloutier, RN and the amazing team at Alive Hospice. You never saw her as just another patient, you gave her every chance at an amazing life no matter how short that life may have been. We are forever grateful for all that you have done, and may God bless each of you. We would also like to thank everyone involved with Global Foundation for Peroxisomal Disorders. The work that has been done to improve the lives of children affected with this disease has been amazing. We could not have given Anna Violet the life she deserves without each and every one of you.
